Early each spring, thousands of Snow Geese begin their 3,000 mile voyage home to Canada's northwest territories. Starting from where they winter in Southern California & Mexico, these travelers navigate their way home with amazing precision and faithfulness.
In addition, they do it all without a trained flight crew, thousands of pounds of jet fuel, or a GPS! Instead, they are equipped with only a few pounds of fatty fuel, a mental map inherited from their parents, a built in compass sensitive to earth's magnetic field, and instinct! Amazing!
We are excited to invite you to our annual "Wild Goose Chase" race! Each year people have the opportunity to register for either a 5K walk/run or a 10K run. We also do a Kids Fun Run where children can join the fun and more! (See the regisration website for more details on the types of walk/run events you can sign up for.) Each course allows participants to get some fresh air, race for prizes, and enjoy the festivities while observing one of the most spectacular events in Utah - the annual migration of the Lesser Snow Geese. As joggers pace themselves around Gunnison Bend Reservoir they will be able to watch literally thousands of snow geese on the water and in the fields surrounding the Delta Area. Make sure to bring your camera!
Each year Delta's Snow Goose Festival attracts crafters and vendors from all over who want to show you their latest creations. You can find anything from jewelry, hair bows, and purses to popcorn and candy apples!
Come and enjoy the interesting things this year's craft fair has to offer. After you've spent some time snapping photos of the beautiful snow geese, then make sure you stop by!
